Abby

I adore dance. The grace and strength of ballet are inspiring to watch and to photograph. So what a great time I had hanging out with such a talented ballet dancer like Abby!

We got together to capture images for promoting Huntsville Ballet’s upcoming Swan Lake performance and then we just played! Abby is a delight to be around and amazing to watch.

This last image brings to mind a Kutless song (I can’t stop singing it when I see it)…

You are my strong tower
Shelter over me
Beautiful and mighty
Everlasting King

You are my strong tower
Fortress when I’m weak
Your name is true and holy
And Your face is all I see

Thanks Abby for the inspiration! You are wished great success in all areas that bring you joy!

Go see Abby and all the wonderful dancers at Huntsville Ballet Company in an upcoming performance!  http://www.huntsvilleballetcompany.org/

New year, new beginning

We were blessed to share a little time on the first day of 2012 with Debra and her delightful family.  On a day marked with new beginnings, we  were inspired by their story of starting over.  The Nilsens are in the process of rebuilding their home after losing it last year to fire. Our community was enduring a season of recovery from tornado loss and on one July evening, their home was struck by lightning. Fred, Allie, and Corey were home and able to escape safely, but watched as their home and all the treasures it held were lost.

How difficult it must have been to move forward after such a loss.  Tears were shed for items that just aren’t replaceable – the kid’s artwork, family heirlooms & antiques, collectibles, and yes, photos. We asked Debra to name a few words that she feels and among them were thankful and anticipation. She shared that they are thankful to have been in a place where they could recover. They were embraced by loving neighbors, family and friends. Their feelings transitioned from being overwhelmed with helplessness to those of hopefulness. A verse she holds close is Jeremiah 29.11. And in this new year, with the construction beginning in just a few weeks, this family is anticipating what plans are ahead.

Right before we arrived for the shoot, the Nilsens received a gift from their next door neighbor. It was an actual brick from the house that once stood there. On it, along with the black stains, was an inscription with the date of the fire and the quote  “Life goes on.” What a powerful little piece.

Thanks for being the “beautiful you’s” that you are — loved by many! YOUR life is beautiful!

Oh, and happy, happy new year!! xxoo, suzi & tony

Such an amazing family and I am so blessed to know the amazing woman behind it all. Happy New Years and I know all of your dreams will become a reality! You are such an inspiration.

Holiday wishes…

Under the tree and in the box — our cat just couldn’t be happier. For an older cat that doesn’t like change, she enjoys the addition of the Christmas tree in the house. Some things are just delightful!!

And some people are truly delightful too! Tony & I count ourselves blessed to have spent time with so many delightful friends and clients this past year! We wish each of you a season surrounded by your favorite people enjoying activities that bring you joy!

Flying is an Option

I love the playfulness and connection in moments like  these – a break from the daily walk to let go and toss joy around.

Sometimes it seems I need to be reminded that we were made for this. We are made to experience joy and connection with God and with those around us. I get so busy — always having one more thing to finish — and a day can sneak right by without me truly stopping to soar.  So like a child I ask,  “One more time. Let’s do it again Daddy!”  for I know without a doubt that treasures are found in these high places.

No matter how busy we are, flying is an option.

Still Newlyweds

Nothing sweeter than time with friends. Jason & Kristin spent some smile-time with us in the backyard studio and then they took us out for dinner and delightful conversation!

Just three years ago we were celebrating their wedding, not only were we blessed to photograph the day,  but Tony also had the wonderful honor of walking beautiful bride Kristin down the aisle.  How delightful to see their love blossom and their connection to each other continue to strengthen!

The Bible verse Jeremiah 29:11 is one of Kristin’s favorites and I always think of her when I hear it. Indeed God does have special plans for Kristin and Jason! Tony and I look forward to capturing them love those plans out  for years ahead 🙂
